Media & iHub Labs at La Châtaigneraie

Our Media and iHub Labs are more than just physical spaces; they're incubators for innovation and creativity. We envision these spaces as hubs of experiential learning, where students can engage with the latest technology, collaborate on projects and bring their ideas to life.

To reach our vision and directly impact the learning experiences of our students, ensuring they have access to the tools they need to excel in their fields and prepare for careers in media, design, computer science, and beyond, we need your support to invest in key equipment such as:

Electronics and Robotics Kits: These kits are essential for hands-on learning and experimentation in computer science, robotics and engineering. Your donation enables our students to build and programme their own robots, enhancing their skills and fostering a passion for technology. As technology evolves, updating and incorporating new technologies is vital. Middle School students at La Châtaigneraie are already engaged in the Warehouse Robot Challenge and Mission 2 Mars (developed in collaboration with the EPFL Robotics Department and the Swiss Space Agency). Expanding electronics design facilities and equipment will also enable our High School students to participate in National and International Computer Science and Robotics competitions.

3D Scanners and Printers: These devices empower students to bring their ideas to life in three dimensions. With your support, we can upgrade our equipment and expand capabilities, enabling students to create prototypes, models and artworks with precision. All 450 Middle School students learn 3D design and printing through projects like Lifehack Creation (Year 7), Boat Hull Challenge (Year 8), and F1 in Schools (Year 9). Newer printers will enhance speed, accuracy and design opportunities.

Laser Cutters and CNC Machines: Essential for diverse design projects, from architecture to Formula 1. Your donation enables access to cutting-edge technology, inspiring creativity. Current projects like Boat Hull Design Challenge (Year 8) and Formula 1 in Schools (Year 9) have limitations. Upgrading machinery would allow students to create complex designs and compete internationally, like in F1 in Schools.

Video and Animation Equipment: With increasing course demand and evolving technology, our Media Hub requires upgraded cameras, steady cams, lights, and sound recording gear. Upgrading to a full 3D green screen studio and adding a sound recording booth will enable students to produce professional-quality voiceovers and sound effects.

Please note that while your donations may contribute to the purchase of equipment like those listed above, the final allocation of funds will depend on the overall generosity of our donors. We may not be able to purchase everything immediately, but rest assured that all contributions will be put towards creating the best dynamic and innovative learning environment for our students.
