The George Walker Memorial Fund

George Walker was Director General from 1991 to1999, before leaving to take on the leadership of the International Baccalaureate Organisation. His professional and personal contributions to Ecolint were numerous, but some of the more memorable include the integration of the French language and English language streams at La Grande Boissière into one bilingual programme, the agreement of the school’s first collective bargaining agreement, and the relaunch of the Students' League of Nations, which continues to flourish to this day.

George is remembered by former colleagues and friends as a kind and benevolent leader, who wore his academic erudition lightly and yet who made very clear his passionate belief in the importance of the school’s mission to educate for peace.

George's dream was to give access to quality education to as many children as possible. In honour of his lifelong dedication to promoting education as a tool for tolerance, cooperation and open-mindedness, the George Walker Memorial Fund was established following his passing in March 2022 to support the expansion of the Ecolint Scholarship Programme.

The first cohort of five scholars began their three-year academic journey at Ecolint in 2019. The school hopes to welcome a larger cohort of students across all campuses of Ecolint in the second phase of the programme.

Your generous contribution will help us achieve this goal while commemorating the life of George Walker.
